DOMAINE DU FOURNIER

On the slopes of the right bank of the Rhone river, the Domaine du Fournier is located in the town of Saze in the Gard department, 12 km from the old Papal city, Avignon and its famous bridge, as well as 15 km from the bridge. Roman aqueduct on three levels, known as Pont du Gard, all listed as UNESCO World Heritage.

The Fournier estate located on the edge of the communal forest of Saze takes its name from an old Oil Mill which is now in ruins. This mill was in operation during the heyday of the Papal city of Avignon under the tutelage of the religious of the Chapel of the Hermitage of Gajan in Saze.

Who says mill says wind; And here the "Mistral" reigns supreme about 100 days a year, thus playing a key role in the health of the vines.

The Gard department, and by definition Saze, is located in the sunniest region of France, thus allowing the grapes to acquire optimal maturity. The Villafranchian terraces with the clay-limestone subsoil which forms this terroir, bring great richness to the vines and the wines that result from them.

Today, the Fournier vineyard covers 30 hectares, mainly Syrah and Grenache Noir. Madame Karine Ogier, President of Les Vignerons du Castelas cellar, and owner of the estate, cultivates her vines with passion and respect for the environment.

80% of a wine's quality is due to the quality of its grapes and the cultivation of the vines, which is why very precise specifications have been established to meet the criteria of the Côtes du Rhône Villages Signargues.
